Hi there,

Mike T. here…

In this blog post, I am going to reveal my top 3 diet books.

download3. Why We Get Fat: is an incredibly eye opening book on the overall cause of obesity. In the book, author Gary Taubes attacks the established beliefs of the mainstream on obesity including the Calories In, Calories Out model.

Gary’s hypothesis is that it’s not the amount of calories (or lack of activity) that causes us to get fat. But, it’s the types of calories we consume that do. For example, Gary reveals that it’s carbohydrates that regulate the hormone insulin in the body.

If someone consumes carbohydrates such as sugar or high-fructose corn syrup you’re basically telling your body to store body fat. If you are currently struggeling with your weight I highly recommend that you read this groundbreaking book.

download2. The 4-Hour Body – could be considered a bio-hacker’s bible. It includes Tim’s Ferris’s diet the “Slow Carb” diet. The slow carb diet is similar to the Paleo diet, but it allows you to eat legumes. In addition, you are allowed a cheat day once per week which means you can go crazy all day.

However, “The 4 Hour Body” isn’t your typical diet book. It also includes some very unusual techniques for fat loss such as cold showers, sleep hacking and pouring cinnamon on your favorite foods to decrease it’s glycemic response.

I highly recommend this book to any inspiring bio-hackers or anyone who want to lose weight in some very unusual ways. To learn more about the 4-Hour Body please watch the video below.

41GyJ72Rz5L._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_1. Carb Nite Solution – “The Carb Nite Solution” is currently my favorite diet. Carb Nite was written by physicist/bodybuilder John Kiefer. Carb Nite is not your typical low carb diet. Carb Nite uses carbohydrates in a strategic way so you minimize weight gain and to speed up fat loss.

You see, even though low carb diet’s have been proven to out perform their counter-part low fat diets in most scientific studies. The one down fall of low carb diet’s is that their effectiveness tends to go down after a certain amount of time.

But with the Carb Nite Solution, you spike your insulin levels once a week with high glycemic index carbs to reset your hormone levels. So what this means is you can gorge on your favorite carbs such as ice cream, pizza, donuts, etc.

However, this is not an all day “Cheat Day”, but more of a Cheat Night or Carb Nite. Carb Nite starts at 4:00 P.M. Which means for breakfast you want to eat a high fat moderate protein meal — and no or low carbs. The reason why you want to eat your carbs at night is because your less sensitive to insulin at night time. So you minimize your chances of putting on body fat if you spike your insulin once a week at night time.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to try carb cycling. I believe that carb cycling is by far the best way to decrease body fat while minimizing muscle lost. To learn more about “The Carb Nite Solution” please watch a talk by John Kiefer below.
